L.A.M.P

What is L.A.M.P you ask? L.A.M.P is difficult to describe to the newbie....you have to experience it yourself.

Well maybe not so. But before I started delving into Linux this year these concepts would be foreign to me. LAMP stands for Linux-Apache-MySQL and PHP. I'm learning about this all this year ever since I built my first Linux box in February 2004.

Building a Linux Box is an ominous task. I would like to describe exactly how a newbie like me started later down the line in this blog.

LAMP seems to be foundation on which the linux world runs. I think it has an equivalent in the MS world but it's amazing to think that all this technology is open source and best yet free to run.

Fedora Core 1 was not bad to setup. I wish, however, that it would install MySQL and PHP automatically with the desired features and modules. I think my biggest headaches (and hours) of time was spent correctly configuring apache with MySQL and PHP.

Of course, once that hard part is setup, the rest is easy....installing an application such as this one is as simple as 15 minutes, just like they said.

Hmm, which reminds me I should backup this server tonight.... :-)
